Is Meryl Streep's Anti-Surgery Stance Hypocritical?

Has Meryl Streep Had Plastic Surgery?
Ever since actress Meryl Streep made anti-cosmetic surgery comments, a long list of female celebrities have joined her in her sentiments. However, some bloggers have wondered if the 'Devil' isn't hiding her own plastic secrets.

The attached photo shows a young Ms. Streep on the left and an older Streep on the right. I will say this, her cheeks do seem to have gotten more refined and something is different about her eyes - then again, that could just be the effects of aging and make-up.

What do you think? Is she hiding something?

no i don't believe she's hiding something. It just depends on the pic you choose. Your face is different when smiling than when looking serious. everybody's cheeks change when smiling. besides, if you see some pictures you can see that without her make-up she's totally nice and looking like a normal person who's ageing very beautifully!

I've been readin these articles for about 30 min and everyone has to have a dig at things they are jelous of. Sorry author, im not getting after you ok! :) I believe Streep. Shes so honest, carng and beautiful. And if she has had plastic surgery... who cares! Its not likes she would have been the only one. One only needs to look at the faces haunting hollywood these days to see that. Maybe she does think its horrible; in excess. Personly i dont see anything wrong with wanting to look like nice and feel good about your self in old age. I'd kill to look like her in 40 years.

Why would she hide anything. She's absolutely beautifuljust the way she is.

I completely believe her. She has refused to have a deviated septum fixed for 20 years because she thinks that plastic surgery is wrong. She is, and will always will be, one of the 'real' faces of Hollywood.

wow, way to just judge someone! you have no right and no clues saying shes lying. people develop all over in different places of their body, including your face! and everyones eye color changes. look at babies. their born with blue and everyone changes to a different color. she isnt lying and is NOT a devil. that was a role in a movie. shes sweet, caring thoughtful and amazing. so dont go calling her a liar just to get a reaction. grow up!

first of all, her cheeks are different because she's smiling bigger in the older photo. ever notice when you smile your cheeks go up??? and second, her eyes have makeup on in the older photo. maybe that's why they look different!?
stop acting like being against plastic surgery is a bad thing =P

The devil does lie!!!!!!! If u look closely, then u will c that she haz a diff shaped nozzle!!!! alzo, her cheekz r plumper now but u cannot b sure coz shez iz smiling and she might eat more piez now!!! (ps, my mum haz dat jumpery thingy!!)

Oh for god's sake!! Of course she's not lying! In the one where she's younger, she's not smiling and so you wouldn't be able to see her cheekbones. But if someone is smiling their cheek bones are more pronounced. Stop dissing Meryl, she is beautiful and you're all jealous. Leave Meryl Streep alone!!!

I'm a year younger than Streep, and I can tell you that I look my age. No plastic surgery for me. I have loose skin at my neck and my skin has wrinkles and age spots. Creams can fix the skin but nothing but plastic SURGERY fixes loose skin! Wake up people. When will we see women that REALLY look their age? Take a look at the women around you. Look at your mothers. What makes Streep look so different? It's not because of "cheekbones and genes." I'm tired of seeing 40 year old faces on 60 years old. Why can't we just look the way we are, grey hair and sagging chin lines and everything? People love their favorite aunts and grandmothers. They will love us, too.

Let's stop coloring our hair while we're at it, and really show how beautiful silver gray hair can be! Plus we won't get cancer from chemicals and dye.

go see It's Complicated then tell me she's had plastic surgery. in that film she looks her ages. she looks VERY VERY GOOD for her age, but still...she looks 60. i've met her in person and i can say she has wrinkles all over the show. the reason her cheeks look so tight? because she's always smiling! find her when she's not and you'll see that her face sags just like everyone else!

PLEASE!!!!!
Now you're exagerating!
In the first picture she is serious, in the second she's laughing…and between the two of them there's a difference of 45 years!
If you take a picture of me when I was 16 with no make up and a serious expression, and a pic of me now, 33 years old, smiling, with the make up, the hairstyle etc, I bet you would say I got plastic surgery too!
This is a beautiful woman, of course she's an actress so maybe she had a little work done, but not much… just watch Sophie's Choice, and you'll see her cheek bones have always been like this!
And you know what?
She's an amazing actress and a smart woman, she never changed her nose even when Studios asked her to… so… Make other examples, Meryl Streep is the Queen! ;o)

First of all, plastic surgery doesn't change your eye color, so...That's out.
Secondly, to the woman who said that genes can't make you age so gracefully--They can, and they do. Especially in certain ethnic backgrounds, there are plenty of people out there (normal people without money for plastic surgery) that look a couple decades younger than they actually are. High cheekbones DO make a difference in how your skin lays as it ages, because it is stretched more. Good eating and lifestyle habits also contribute to this.

So, I seriously doubt she's had plastic surgery or botox.

To make a real comparaison, you should have chosen pictures both showing her smiling or both showing a sober face...

Your choice of the pictures doesn't show anything...

Anonymous wrote that the choice of pictures doesn't show anything. I have to agree, and was wondering why those pictures were chosen. I couldn't tell anything.

But I do know I'm younger than Streep and I have a saggy bag under my chin. How do these actresses do it, "without surgery?" I am sick and tired of being shown how great all these women look, when they can spend $10,000 or $50,000 "looking great - and so young!" Why can't we just look the way we are? What's wrong with that?

She totally didn't have surgery, don't you think the second photo was photoshopped? I'm sure it wasn't naturally that over-exposed. Plus she's a total hag to begin with. The only movie she was good in was Doubt, because the only thing you could see was her face.

First of all being at the same age or 1 year smaller but looking older is not strange. As our skin needs a daily care, needs protecting, besides these, we must be physically exercised for our body and skin, so Meryl Streep is younger because of daily protecting herself, because she is kind and is not jealous, being jealous, people get nervous and the wrinkles will rise, so be kind and protect your skin, and at the end I want to say, I love Meryl Streep, she is a great actress, she not only plays, she feels, her eyes feel, so we can turn off the voice of Tv and understand from her expressive eye, I love her and have her films

Meryl looks the absolute same. She's older. My face is different 27 than it was at 21 with age, weight lose a or gain. Your face defines with age, unless you put on too much weight.
